Rules

NameMarket marketplace rules

By using NameMarket, you agree to the following policies. They protect buyers and the integrity of the UK domain marketplace for brandable, short, premium commercial, local, niche and aged .co.uk / .uk assets.

Buyer rules

  • Verify brand fit, trademark risk, SEO data and commercial suitability before purchase. Listed metrics are estimates from third-party providers (Ahrefs, Moz, Majestic).
  • Pay only through a method agreed with NameMarket admin: credit / debit card payment link, PayPal, an approved manual payment instruction, escrow, or an approved external marketplace link such as Afternic.
  • Private payments sent outside an admin-approved checkout, payment link, escrow flow or marketplace link are not protected by NameMarket.
  • Confirm transfer once you receive the domain. Failure to confirm within 14 calendar days releases funds automatically.
  • Do not use purchased domains for illegal content under UK law or activities prohibited by Nominet / your registrar's terms.
  • UK buyers are responsible for any UK VAT obligations on cross-border purchases.

Listing approval

  • All domains on NameMarket are sourced and listed by our admin team, not by third-party sellers.
  • Each domain undergoes manual review for likely buyer fit, naming quality, transfer readiness, spam history, Wayback profile, anchor distribution and obvious trademark conflicts before publication.
  • Domains with extreme spam scores, former adult / casino / illegal histories, or clear trademark issues are rejected from inventory.
  • Listed prices reflect our valuation of name quality, UK market fit, category demand, commercial intent and SEO signals where relevant. Metrics are surfaced as transparently as possible so you can verify.

Payment rules

  • Buyers may pay by credit / debit card, PayPal, approved escrow, approved manual payment, or through an external marketplace checkout when a listing provides or admin sends that link.
  • Card payments may be handled through a payment processor such as Stripe. PayPal payments may be handled directly through PayPal or through a provider-supported checkout flow.
  • Some domains may also be available through third-party marketplaces such as Afternic. In that case, NameMarket may show a "Buy on Afternic" button or send the buyer an external marketplace link.
  • For direct NameMarket purchases, transfer begins after payment is confirmed. If an escrow or marketplace checkout is used, its own holding, release, fee, refund and dispute rules apply.
  • Marketplace fees, payment processor fees or external marketplace fees are shown by the relevant checkout before the buyer completes payment where applicable.
  • VAT or tax treatment, if applicable, is handled according to the chosen payment method, processor or external marketplace.

External marketplace links

  • An external marketplace link, including Afternic, is an approved purchase path only when it is shown on the listing page or provided by NameMarket admin for that exact domain.
  • When a buyer completes checkout on Afternic or another external marketplace, that marketplace's terms, buyer protection, escrow, payment timing, refunds, fees and transfer process apply to that checkout.
  • NameMarket can still help coordinate information about the domain, but it does not override the terms of the external marketplace used for payment.

Transfer rules (Nominet / .co.uk / .uk)

  • For .co.uk and .uk domains, transfer happens via IPS tag change at Nominet.
  • The admin coordinates the IPS tag change with the buyer's UK registrar.
  • Standard transfer time is 1-3 business days once payment is confirmed by the chosen checkout, processor, escrow or marketplace.
  • Both buyer and seller (admin) are responsible for any registrar fees on their side.

Refund rules

  • For direct NameMarket purchases, buyers may request cancellation and refund within 48 hours of confirmed payment if transfer has not started and the domain has not been transferred.
  • For direct NameMarket purchases, refunds are issued if NameMarket fails to transfer the domain within 10 business days of confirmed payment.
  • For purchases completed through Afternic or another external marketplace, refund and dispute handling follows that marketplace's rules and support process.
  • Once an IPS tag change, registrar push, ownership transfer or marketplace transfer has started, cancellation may no longer be possible.
  • Once the domain has transferred to the buyer or the buyer's registrar, the sale is final and non-refundable.
  • Refunds are not issued for ranking, traffic, lead volume, resale value or brand-performance expectations. Outcomes depend on factors beyond the domain itself.

Admin supervision

  • The admin coordinates every transfer between NameMarket and the buyer.
  • Admin decisions are final on disputes within the marketplace.
  • Communication with admin happens via the in-app messaging system or email at the support address.

No guarantee of UK rankings

Buying a brandable, short, local, niche, aged or high-DR UK domain does not guarantee top rankings on Google.co.uk, organic traffic, conversions, resale value, or revenue. Search engine algorithms change. Niches differ. Outcomes depend on your content, technical SEO, product, marketing, offer, reputation and ongoing work.
